First Day of School

August 29th, 2007

Today we got acquainted, familiarized ourselves with the classroom and wrote some funny, imaginative poetry. The students came up with all sorts of funny ideas for what they didn’t do this summer (swim in a barrel of sweet and sour pickles). We also looked at a map of the US and identified all the states, the Great Lakes, the oceans and the Mississippi River. Students will continue working on the map skills activity and the poetry writing and illustrating tomorrow. It’s a great class and I am so happy to have them as students this year.

I have been planning for weeks to make sure you will have an interesting and fulfilling year. There is so much to learn and to experience. I think you’ll not only like it, but will find it unforgettable. I’m looking forward to getting to know each one of you very well.
